SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SMS) including RPAS COURSE OVERVIEW
Duration: 5 Days
Introduction:
In recent years, business processes have been amended to include safety management. Managing safety is now the key to the success of any business. International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) have mandated the implementation of a Safety Management System (SMS) in aviation, even though SMS is still a mystery to many.
The model of SMS recommended by Litson and Associates has four Components consisting of twelve Elements. Each element is discussed in detail to ensure a full understanding. Typically, the ideal candidates on the SMS course are those individuals in the organisation who will be appointed in the roles of Aviation Safety Officers and Aviation Safety Managers (ASO/M). The SMS course is formative of nature with the objective of training the delegate as an ASO/M with principles based on SMS outcomes.
Aim:
To develop the delegates knowledge of safety management to assist them to fully understand the task of the appointment as Company ASO/ASM.
At the end of the five-day course, delegates will have a clear understanding of what SMS entails, what the ASO/M has to contend with and how to manage the SMS requirements at an Accountable Manager level.
